The Changes I Want to Make:

Santa Barbara County needs to be run like a fiscally sound business. 

Three years ago I warned that County revenues were stagnant, yet our current county officials continued spending at an alarming rate.  Today, we face a projected deficit of severe magnitude, following in the footsteps of our State and Federal Governments.  We need to cut the fat and increase support where it is most needed in areas such as public safety.  We do not need new taxes and fees.  We have to cut wasteful spending and plan “realistically” for the county’s current and future financial needs. Simply put, we cannot spend more than we take in.

The public needs to be aware, involved, and become a crucial part of the decision-making process for their communities. 

The 3^rd District needs programs and genuine outreach, that will keep residents informed and engaged in the policies being developed and decisions being made. This District needs regular town hall public meetings, a quarterly newsletter and an open-door to their supervisor.

Property rights must be left in the hands of property owners as long as they are conducting themselves responsibly, within the character of each individual community and their neighbors.

I will assure that all home and land owners are aware every time a land use project is being considered for their community,  that they are intimately involved in the process and that everyone is treated equally by the County and other government agencies.
